Dance performance with Željka Sančanin: Solo:Cycle/1/Project on Labour

The solo dance performance by Zeljka Sancanin, k.o. (Combined Operations) from Zagreb questions the normative ideology of choreographic practices, and instead makes dance »tangible« as a medium. It emphasizes the perceptive visibility and the semiotic elusiveness as principles. Zeljka Sancanin investigates the (in)visibility of her choreographic material with minimalistic precision; while performing it, she manipulates and transforms the dance material until her innermost wish for conceptual meaning dissolves. The landscape of the choreography is deliberately sculptural, affirming Roland Barthes’ idea of the punctum: a detail that escapes every rationalisation.
